Japanese Sit-Down Stand-Up: Rakugo Night 11 (English Show)
One performer. Countless characters.
A storytelling tradition hundreds of years in the making, Rakugo is Japan’s bold, centuries-old answer to stand-up comedy. Seated on stage with nothing but words and imagination, a single performer creates an entire universe—jumping between characters, emotions, and perspectives in rapid fire.
In this performance, you’ll experience two razor-sharp Rakugo stories, each running about 20 minutes, with a short intermission in between.
Minimal props. Maximum transformation.
What begins as a simple monologue quickly unfolds into a full-cast performance—played by one.
◆The First Story
"Begging"
A devout elderly Buddhist steps into a fish shop— and sparks a
surprisingly funny debate about killing, compassion, and everyday
contradictions.
A sharp, playful exchange where faith meets commerce.
◆The Second Story
"The Talk"
A father calls his 15-year-old son in to scold him for "a misbehavior".
What starts as a simple lecture quickly snowballs into something much bigger— and wildly unexpected.
