Hamlet: La Telenovela

Hamlet couldn't possibly get more dramatic... or could it?
Hamlet couldn't possibly be funny... or could it?
Are Shakespeare and Telenovelas a match made in heaven? THAT is the question!
With Hamlet: La Telenovela, audiences will experience Hamlet like never before—through an adaptation that heightens the story’s innate melodrama and explores it through a farcical, comedic lens. We invite the public to open their arms to the cathartic, guilty pleasure that only telenovelas (soap operas) can provide.
Hamlet: La Telenovela is a Hispanic parody of the classic, performed entirely in Spanish with English subtitles. While the dialogue is a direct translation of Shakespeare’s original text, the adaptation is performed in the style of Latin American telenovelas.
“A fast-moving, tremendously funny adaptation that ranks among our favorite experiences of
Shakespeare’s celebrated tragedy.” John Ziegler and Leah Richards, Thinking Theater NYC
